Christmas with a baby is a lot of fun!
There is something pretty special about seeing your little ones face light up over everything…Christmas lights, Christmas trees, snow! It’s the best to see the season through their eyes.
That being said, gift giving for a baby is pretty fun too!
They really don’t care what you give them, they just love the paper and bows that everything is wrapped up in.
It makes it the perfect Christmas to keep things simple!
We focus on things that our baby actually needs for their first Christmas. Big purchases that we may have to make soon anyways make their way onto the list!
Of course a few fun things are on there too!
Our family follows the something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read principle for Christmas gifts. We choose one gift from each category. That’s it!
This may change in the future, but it works really well for us right now.
Here is our minimal gift guide for our 10 month old this year!
Something you want.
This is the category that all of the purely “fun” stuff falls into.
As our kids get older, this category will become more specific. For now, it’s pretty simple! A fun toy!
Here are a few things that I am thinking about for Lucy this year.
Activity Table
We won’t be buying this for Lucy, because we already have it and she LOVES it! She is also getting a little bit too big for it. If she were a little younger, we would totally be buying this for a gift though.
Musical Book
For babies, I’m always looking for a great option to help keep them entertained when I can’t be completely hands on. In the car, while cooking dinner, or tending to her big sister. We love books in our house, and we love music! This should be a perfect combination!
Pop Up Toy
This is such a classic toy, but with good reason! It helps develop motor skills by practicing different things like pushing or turning!
Something you need.
This is the category where it will be highly specific to your kid! Your child may need a new pair of shoes, a new water bottle, some sort of sport gear!
This year, Lucy doesn’t need all of that much, but there are a few things!
Sippy Cups
We always need another sippy cup around here! Whether one got left at a grandparents house or just needs replacing. A sippy cup is a super practical gift, and something our girls always get excited about too!
Diapers
I don’t think there is a more practical gift than diapers! It really speaks for itself. 🙂
Convertible Carseat
Around 1 year, babies move out of their infant seats into convertible car seats! This is definitely a necessity and a great thing to do as a “what you need” gift!
Something to wear.
I love baby girl clothes!! This is one of my favorite things to shop for!
The rest of the year, I shop almost 100% clearance and thrifted. However, Christmas feels like the time that I can get a little bit fancy!
L’oved Baby Sleepers
These sleepers are my favorite sleepers in the world. They’re so soft, last super well and are stinking adorable on babies!
Burt’s Bees Pajamas
Another set of pajamas, but what else do babies really need in the winter time?? These are footies that are SO cute on babies! The snug fit makes chunky babies look especially chunky, something I can’t get enough of!
Converse High Tops
These are GREAT shoes for new walkers because they are super sturdy! They’re also adorable in both the winter and the summer.
Something to read.
We get new books almost every week from the library, but there are some that we want to add to our permanent collection!
I love board books for babies and young toddlers. They can be chewed on, tossed around and really looked at by curious little people!
Baby Einstein Board Book Set
I love Baby Einstein products. They’re really cute, straight forward, and always have an educational theme. Something I’m not so worried about when they’re super young, but it’s nice to use as babies get older and we start doing some lessons.
Eric Carle Board Book Set
Everyone loves these classic books. Having them in a baby friendly form is even better!
Dr. Seuss Board Book Set
We already own most of these books, and we LOVE them! You can’t get much more classic with kids books than Dr. Seuss!
That is what I’m thinking for Christmas for our baby girl this year!
Like I said, we will be picking ONE item from each category to give our 2.5 year old. Four super intentional gifts are WAY better than 15 random ones.
I hope this helped you!
