Things have changed in our home since I called this little blog home every single week. We have added a few more kids and we’ve just had a lot of big changes in our family! I have really been excited to get back into sharing our family meals with you guys and it feels like a different world now!
Grocery prices have gone way up since I regularly shared our extreme budget meal plans and grocery hauls, and the amount of food my family eats has gone way up too! We’ve also had a few dietary changes in our home that have changed things up a big as well.
With all of those changes I think that I am ready to jump back in and share how I feed our family (on a budget!!) healthy meals throughout the week. It’s really just gotten simpler and simpler (hello, 4 kids!!) but it’s healthy and helps keep my family feeling good.
Let me share with you guys my dinner plan for the next 10 days!
If you don’t remember, or if you’re new here, I meal plan every 10 days (you can read about that here!!) This leaves me with just 3 rounds of thinking through our family schedule and looking through grocery sale flyers a month. This is doable for me in this stage of life (and has been through various newborn stages and busy homeschooling seasons). It keeps us in healthy meals without putting more than necessary amount of thought into spending and cooking.
November 1-10 Whole Foods Gluten-Free Dinner Plan
1: Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry with Rice
2: Burgers, Hot Dogs and Potatoes
3: Pork Loin with Sweet Potato Casserole
4: Cheeseburger Soup with Blueberry Crisp for Dessert
5: Beef and Bean Nachos with Baked Apples
6: Cheesy Beefy Rice with Carrots and Cucumbers
7: Picnic Dinner (lunch meat, boiled eggs, fruit, veggies, cheese)
8: Pork Loin with Potatoes and Green Beans
9: Bacon, Eggs, and Breakfast Potatoes
10: Chicken Tacos with Cherry Crisp for Dessert
I based this meal plan around what was going to be on super sale at my local Kroger.
I always look through the sale bill for Kroger before I even begin thinking about how I’m going to feed my family for the week. Sometimes, it’s full of things that my family can enjoy and I stock up. Other times, the sales aren’t really matching with what we eat so I skip Kroger and head to Walmart. When not shopping with coupons, my local Walmart is WAY cheaper. However, if I take the time to use coupons and sales Kroger always wins out.
I also use our local Food Giant store for great deals as well. It has to be a deal good to enough to be worth my time so usually it’s something that I’ll buy a lot of (usually meat) and I’ll stock our freezer.
This time, Kroger had a ton of things on both “Weekly Deal” coupons and just their regular sale bill that we already buy and eat so I’m ordering through them to pick-up.
Some of these Kroger deal for my November 1 pickup order were:
- $10 off $75 with pickup (these are random but love when they appear in my account!)
- BOGO Free Gala Apples
- BOGO Free Petite Potatoes
- BOGO Free Pork Loin
- 2/$10 Shaved Beef Steak
- Kroger Butter for $2.99
- $1.39 Milk
- $4.99 Oscar Mayer Bacon
- $1.99 Salsa
- $1.49 Pears
- $2.99 Bottled Water
- $7.99 Frozen Beef Patties
- $2.99 Pickles
- $2.99 Oscar Mayer Lunch Meat
- $3.49 Blueberries
- $5.99 2 lb Cheese
After I saw what things we use were on sale and glanced through what we have in our kitchen already, I started making a meal plan.
This eliminates food waste and absolutely minimizes spending. I’m buying things that I know are a really good deal (this just comes from years of practice) and that we will use all of it. Coupons don’t make any sense if you’re buying things that you’re not going to use.
