I’ve thought about starting a blog for a long time, but life was just full of lots of exciting (and time-consuming!) things, so I just didn’t. I finally decided there would never be the “right” time, and each day was just going to hold 24 hours no matter what, so here we are!
So, why The Cypress Table?
My husband (that’s him in the picture holding my hand if you couldn’t tell!) and I bought our first home, an adorable ranch style 1970s fixer upper, about 5 months ago. 8 months ago, we welcomed our baby girl into our family, and just 3 months later we packed up our rental house in Mississippi and moved back to our home state of Kentucky! Since then, our days have been filled with renovating our new home, loving on our sweet baby girl and getting accustomed to our new town!
The move has also allowed me the wonderful blessing of being a stay-at-home mom, a change I am so thankful for, but has been quite the transition!
Since I graduated college 5 years ago, I have gotten to be a 5th grade teacher then a high school math teacher and finally a graduate assistant while earning my master’s degree. I absolutely loved working in all of these ways, and have learned so much through each of the experiences, but I am excited to get to be mama all of the time.
Now, back to the question about why The Cypress Table.
All of the home projects have been done by my super handy husband. So far, he has renovated a bathroom, torn out a wall, installed new appliances and several other small jobs helping us to turn this house into our home. The project he is working on right now is building our first family dining table.
He’s building the table out of Cypress that he was given from his dad, and we have big plans for that table in our family.
Plans of sitting, eating, having great conversations, helping with crafts, homework and science fair projects, having difficult conversations, laughing, crying, and everything else. We want the table to be the cornerstone of our home. The place where everyone feels welcome and has a deep sense of belonging.
So, this blog is where I plan to share this adventure of raising a family, and making our house a home with you!
I’m so glad you’re here!
