Planning for a baby is a big deal! As minimal as you would like to go, babies require a lot of gear. A lot of that gear is absolutely essential and there were absolutely no regrets about purchasing them for us. However, there was definitely one category that I felt like I could have had a lot LESS! What is that category you ask?
Clothing.
I understand how a newborns closet ends up packed to the brim! It’s so easy to get caught up in the excitement and buy every tiny pink or blue thing you see! Buying little bity baby clothing is one of the joys of expecting a baby, and I’m not saying you shouldn’t do it. It’s just after seeing the amount of clothes that Rosy didn’t even put on once before she outgrew it, I know that is an area we can definitely afford to cut back on.
So, while thinking about what I will do differently for out next babies, I definitely will pare down in the area of newborn clothing.
Most of your days immediately following your baby’s birth are spent inside of your house. Since you will be recovering from birth and only sleeping in between lots of night feedings, you are not concerned about dressing your baby in the frilliest outfits that looked so cute while you were shopping.
You will want your little one to be in something snuggly and soft that makes diaper changes as easy as possible!
Here is a list of what clothing I will have for our next baby so that I can spend less time organizing clothes and more time snuggling my newborn!
Newborn Size
- 3-4 footed sleepers
- 5-6 onesies
This list is super minimal because babies really grow so fast! There isn’t much time spent in the tiny newborn size, so you really don’t need that much.
0-3 Month Size
- 5-6 footed sleepers
- 10-12 onesies
- 3 pairs of pants (if winter time)
- 2 pairs of tights (for girls if winter time)
I love the footed sleepers from L’oved Baby and will only be purchasing these next time!
My favorite onesies have been from the Cloud Island line at Target! They’re super easy to get over a newborns head which helps a lot when changing clothes!
This really is all that I will have for baby #2 when the time comes give or take 1 or 2 special outfits! Life with a newborn is so much fun but very time consuming, and anything that can be streamlined is a winner in my book!
I hope this list was helpful!
