When it was time for Rosy to start using a high chair, we had just moved into a fixer upper, and our house was a construction zone. The last thing I had time to think about was what kind of high chair to buy!
I started looking up some reviews and found that many of the chairs that wiped clean and didn’t have fabric were around $300!! I couldn’t believe it and thought for sure there was a better option out there, but I just didn’t have time to look.
This turned out to be a major blessing, because I just went online and bought a cheap one thinking that if I needed to replace it down the road, it was only 20 dollars and would get the job done for now.
That cheap high chair has turned out to be one of my favorite baby gear purchases to date!
I seriously can’t recommend the IKEA Antilop high chair enough!
About three times every day Rosy TRASHES this chair (and the floor all around her) with carrots, apples, banana, blueberries, sweet potatoes, quinoa and so many other things! Every single time she does it, I am easily able to clean it up with just a few sprays of cleaner or a cleaning wipe. It is ready for her next meal and looks nice in just a few seconds!
Even if her chair is left for a few hours (or overnight, whoops!) with food on it, I’m always able to get it looking good quickly and easily.
There are straps that are easy to adjust and snap the baby into the chair, and the tray is removable which makes clean up even easier!
It’s super light weight, so I’m able to move it from the kitchen counter to the dining table and back to its storing area with ease. The legs also have soft round tips so there is no risk of scratching the hardwood when I’m moving it around.
I think it’s super cute, and I have received several compliments on it whenever people come over. It’s not loud and obnoxiously covered in a print that makes it all you can see in the kitchen.
Minimal is a PLUS in my book when it comes to supplies for your baby!
Without a doubt, this is one of the items that I can’t stop recommending to my friends that are having babies, and since it only costs around $20, if your baby spends a large amount of time somewhere other than your house, you can get an extra and it will make your life so much easier!
So, here is why this IKEA high chair is all that you need:
Clean-up is EASY!
What mom has time for complicated cleaning when it comes to their baby? I’m usually holding on to Rosy when I’m wiping down the table and high chair!
I need things to be super quick and easy. No small crevices, no fabric that needs to be treated.
Wiped down, sanitized and done!
It’s lightweight and is easy to move around.
Before I was a mom, I never thought I would be moving baby gear around as much as I do! It’s not uncommon for the high chair to be at the kitchen counter and then at the table and then put back into it’s storage area in just a few minutes!
Again, when you’re moving stuff while holding a baby, lightweight is KEY!
I have no trouble moving this all over only using one hand.
It’s CHEAP!
Some baby gear is affordable, and I would say that Ikea goes above and beyond in this department with this chair. It is so affordable that you could stash one or two at babysitters or grandparents houses!
Seriously, you won’t find a better value for your dollar in any baby gear!
It’s design is minimal.
It is cute, minimal and doesn’t scream “there is a brightly colored and distracting high chair in my kitchen!”
Your house is going to be proof that you have children, that is a fact of life when you have a baby! However, your kitchen or dining room doesn’t have to be a baby gear storage room!
This chair totally fits in with our table and chairs in a “oh, cute high chair” kind of way. 🙂
I hope this list was helpful!
