When we were expecting Rosy, I looked everywhere and read all of the lists that I could find about what I should actually take to the hospital.
After all of that, I had 2 big bags full of stuff but I still didn’t have what I really needed!
What I’ll be taking to the hospital for our next baby will be totally different than what I packed for our first, and I’m going to share my essentials with you!
Your OWN towel!
After giving birth, greeting everyone in our family and showing off our new baby, all that I wanted was a warm shower and some sleep! While it was nice to get to freshen up, the hospital towel left much to be desired and it would have been much nicer with a comfy towel from home!
Here are some towels that I love! They’re so soft and super affordable too!
Snacks
This is something that we did actually pack and I’m so glad that we did! I was starving after delivery and having snacks already with us in our room allowed Clay to stay with me instead of venturing out looking for food!
Nursing Bras
Lactation consultants and other nurses will be in and out of your room helping you with breastfeeding your baby. Having a nursing bra with you can just make this situation must less awkward. Trust me.
Here are the nursing bras that I absolutely love! I have told everyone that will listen about them, and they all agree! They are the best.
A warm and fuzzy blanket
The same reasoning as the towel here. Yes, the hospital obviously provides linens for you, but having something warm and snuggly made everything much more comfortable.
I had one throw blanket from home right after delivery… thanks to the hormones I was freezing… and I’m so so glad that I had it. It also made it easier to sleep over the next couple of days, because sleep in the hospital is fleeting!
Going home outfit for baby
Yes, this one seems obvious, but what I mean here is you don’t need to bring 5 potential outfits for you baby! One sleeper or something else snuggly is completely adequate and you don’t need to waste any extra brain power or space packing extras.
I think something simple and snuggly is best for baby (and mama!) I adore the L’oved Baby sleepers and totally recommend them, it’s also handy that you can buy them on Amazon!
I hope this list is helpful! At the end of the day, you will have a precious newborn to snuggle, so that is all that really matters!
