Christmas is coming and this year with a 3 year old and a 1 year old, I want to make it as magical as possible! We’ve gone to look at Christmas lights about a thousand times already, and Christmas songs are sung on repeat in our house.
I’ve been thinking a lot about what we should do for Christmas morning breakfast this year, and here are some of my favorite ideas!
Cinnamon Rolls
Who doesn’t love an ooey gooey, warm out of the oven, covered in frosting cinnamon roll? I for sure do, and there’s something about having the house smelling all cinnamon-y that makes me think it would be a huge Christmas morning breakfast.
Bonus, cinnamon rolls can be made the night or two nights before and kept in the fridge until you want to throw them in the oven! Letting you put all of your focus on opening gifts and being with your family for the morning.
Breakfast Casserole
Here is a link to my all time favorite breakfast casserole. It’s super easy and an all-time favorite around our house! It’s also perfect for picky eaters because we make it without any onions or peppers (a no-go for my husband!).
Breakfast casseroles have all of the wonderful elements of a big breakfast, without all of the work and mess! I love to make one of these and throw it in the refrigerator or freezer an bake it later. So yummy and warm.
Bonus, any leftovers make the perfect filling for freezer breakfast burritos!
Monkey Bread
All of the stuff I said about cinnamon rolls… the same thing is true for Monkey Bread. It’s just a super fun and different presentation that I think my toddlers would absolutely love!
Served with some fruit and I think it would be a huge hit after presents on Christmas morning.
Bonus, your kids can help to roll the dough into balls the day before! Such a fun and sticky activity for toddlers!
Bagel Bar
Okay, I think this would be a really fun morning. Setting out bagels but also putting out ALL of the toppings you can think of! Bacon, cream cheese, cheese, avocado, peanut butter, marshmallows, raisins… the sky is the limit!
What better day to let your kiddos have some free reign in the kitchen than Christmas morning?
Bonus, all of those bagels would make great snacks though the day too!
Breakfast Pizza
My kids LOVE pizza. If you ever ask one of them what they want to eat for dinner, you’re probably 90% likely to hear one or both say “Pizza!” How much fun would a breakfast pizza be!
Originally, I was thinking a sugar cookie base with cream cheese and fruit toppings, basically a dessert pizza. But, wouldn’t a biscuit crust with gravy and eggs and sausage be SO yummy too! An a fun surprise!
Bonus, I bet breakfast pizza is as good leftover as the real thing. 🙂
Chocolate Pancakes
My girls get pumped about chocolate chips or blueberries in their pancakes, but what if you did an entirely chocolate pancake. A little bit of cocoa powder and wow! What a fun surprise! I have a feeling that my toddlers would absolutely love this treat on Christmas morning.
Bonus, pancakes are SUPER easy to whip up. If you haven’t made yours from scratch before, try it now!
Smoothie Bar
You may not be a smoothie family, but we definitely are. Throw some yummy fruit into a blender with a lot of other great ingredients and we’re a happy crew!
How fun would a make your own smoothie bar be for Christmas morning! Usually, my toddlers just get whatever smoothie I have made for myself, but wouldn’t it be a treat for them to get to pick out their own ingredients!
Add some fruit and granola and you can even have smoothie bowls!
Bonus, who says you can’t eat healthy on Christmas too?!
This is what I’m thinking for Christmas morning this year.
What are your favorite Christmas morning breakfast traditions? What do you like to do or make? I would love to hear!
