Newborns nap a lot! It seems like as soon as they’re awake, fed, and changed, it’s time for them to nap again.
In the first several days after Rosy was born, I napped a lot too while I was recovering from delivery. I absolutely loved the DockATot during this time, because I could have it beside me wherever I was. If I was on the couch, I had her on the floor beside me. If I was on the bed, she could be safe and close by.
Rosy definitely clocked a lot of hours in her DockATot during that time, and she used it until she was around 4 months old. Some of my favorite memories from that newborn haze involve her sleeping so cozily in it!
The DockATot definitely is an investment. To my not-yet-a-mama brain, $175 always seemed like a ton of money to spend on something that my baby would just sleep in. Oh, bless my sweet little naive heart. I now know that for a newborn, how well they sleep is basically everything! Anything that can make sleeping easier and better is ALWAYS worth it.
I’m so glad that we bought the DockATot, and if you’re on the fence about it for your family, here are 3 reasons I’m so glad we decided to get one!
- The DockATot is super easy to take with you. We were getting ready to move and doing a lot of traveling back and forth when Rosy was a newborn. When we went anywhere for more than 2 hours, the DockATot was with us. It was super easy to throw in the car with us and pull out when when we were in a hotel or visiting a family member throughout the day.
- Rosy always has thrived in a routine and for her, routine involves having a familiar space to sleep. Since the DockATot was so easy to take with us, it made creating a familiar sleeping environment super easy, which made life better for everyone!
- As a first time mama, each transition is a scary one because it’s uncertain to me! When I knew that it was time to transition Rosy from her bassinet in our room to her crib in her room, the DockATot made that transition much easier. I started using it in her room for naps, and then slowly started putting her into her crib when she was used to the surroundings. It made the transition so much easier!
Obviously, the DockATot was a great fit for our family and I’m so glad that we made the purchase. I hope that this list helps you make the decision on whether or not it is a good fit for yours!
